Lorraine Cooke is based in Cork. Ever since she can
remember, she has loved to draw. She has developed this
skill through printmaking, working within the mediums
of drypoint and lithography. She likes to draw from
her model directly onto the plate : "Drawing for
me is all about making marks and taking risks. The placing
of the first mark is always full of apprehension. The
joy is in the relationship of one line and the next,
the hesitant alongside the deliberate".
Funding would enable her to purchase large lithographic
plates and high quality handmade printing paper, and
to employ a model regularly. Above all it would give
her much needed time to develop her skills further.
