Sharon Lindsay Ferguson works in pictorial and sculptural textiles. She uses modern technology in conjunction with hand embroidery techniques to create interesting surface imagery and texture. Her passion for the applied arts is teamed with a love of the making process and a commitment to constant innovation. She would like to add to the tradition of high standard craft in Ireland, a country that has historically had a great textiles industry, and wants to promote textiles as a powerful and exciting artistic medium.

Since she completed her MA at NCAD in 2006 she has won recognition of her craftwork through a number of exhibitions and awards, but finds it difficult to become self supporting in her work.

An award from the Golden Fleece would give her the encouragement and support necessary for her to continue to develop her career and to expand her work into a sustainable living for the future.
